In Defense of the MBA – From an Internet Marketing Geek
Nowadays its all the rage to bash formal education. Or anything that is organized for that matter. Sometimes its valid bashing. But sometimes its not.
Before I get started, I should clarify… I’m an internet guy. I’m supposed to be the guy arguing against an MBA. But I have to call them like I see them. I have an MBA, which I finished in 2008. I should also add that I am my own boss – running a 6 (soon to be 7) person SEO agency. My MBA didn’t get me a promotion. After all, I can’t promote myself. And I paid for it myself, every last dollar of it. I also didn’t learn one thing about SEO in my undergraduate or graduate program. But I did learn about strategy, business and management. I also learned life lessons, and learned about personal efficiency and self-management. As the president of my agency, I now spend more time on those things than I do on SEO. Okay let’s get started…
