About the Owner / Jon Payne, MBA

Jon PayneJon Payne formed Ephricon Web Marketing LLC in the spring of 2003 in order to give more shape and structure to his work as an internet marketing consultant.

Prior to forming Ephricon, Jon held several internet marketing and e-business positions with firms of various shapes and sizes. This gave him a taste for different work environments.  While realizing the pros and cons small business as well as corporate enterprises, Jon much prefers the lifestyle and environment of working for himself. 

Says Jon:

I love what I do.  How many people can say that and truly mean it?  I am truly blessed to have been in the right spot, at the right time, with the right amount of preparation. 

Jon manages online marketing for approximately 20 client accounts, and in his spare time he maintains an internet marketing blog (actually two of them) as well as a small handful of "side project" websites dealing with various topics.  Jon's roles include:

Jon Payne is regarded as one of the foremost search marketing experts in the Baltimore area, especially as related to online lead generation for local/regional firms.  He is a sought-after training instructor, speaker and guest lecturer at various organizations and educational institutions, and has written a number of articles on various internet marketing topics.

Previous Employment

For the first six months of its existence, Ephricon was a part-time venture for Jon Payne, while he pulled double-duty as an Internet Marketing Specialist for a local marketing agency in suburban Baltimore.  His responsibilities included account management, web design, e-newsletter marketing, organic search optimization and paid search campaign management

Prior to the above position, Jon held an internship with Black & Decker in the corporation's e-Business Department while completing his bachelor's degree program.  His responsibilities included user-interface project management and application testing.

A few years ago Jon Payne spent time as an in-house SEO consultant (SEO Business Analyst) for a major B2B distributor in the telecommunications industry. He later served as an outside consultant for approximately 18 months, managing campaigns and training the in-house team to handle their own SEO activities.

Academics & Education

Academic interests include consumer behavior, marketing strategy and advertising/promotional metrics.  Having recently completed his MBA degree, Mr. Payne plans to pursue a PhD in Marketing at some point in the future.  Long-term plans include teaching marketing and entrepreneurship at the college level.

Personal Interests

Outside of playing on the internet (of course), Jon's interests include spending time with his wife and family, watching sports (he's a huge Redskins fan), working on his golf and racquetball games and enjoying good movies on his prized HDTV.
